- I am currently a College student studying, Foundation Diploma, Society Health and Development. In my spare time I enjoy drawing, writing and taking pictures, I also like to travel. Some little things you should know about me: I love J-horror, my favorite Japanese Writer/Director is Takashi Shimizu (creator of Ju-On, Rinne, Marebito etc) I am a fan of the Actor/Director Shinya Tsukamoto who is quite famous for his series Tetsou, he also had a leading role in Marebito. I love to read J-horror, I have a selection of books that I enjoy such as; Ringu, Ju-On, Dark Water etc. I like to draw/sketch just for fun. At the moment I am writing short stories based on Japanese horror and Folklore, a lot of Directors and Writers have inspired me. One of my favorite Japanese singers is Misako Uno, lead singer from the J-pop band AAA (Attack All Around) I like editing photos on Photoshop.
What is 'Obake'
Obake are a class of Yokai in Japanese folklore. Literally, the terms mean a thing that changes, referring to a state of transformation or shapeshifting.
These words are often translated as Ghost, but primarily they refer to living things or supernatural beings who have taken on a temporary transformation, and these Bakemono are distinct from the spirits of the dead. However, as a secondary usage, the term Obake can be a synonym for Yurei, the ghost of a deceased human being.
